Do Kwon Court Case Delayed Due to Additional Evidence
Efforts to resolve Do Kwon’s court case have hit a roadblock as the US government has requested a one-month delay to allow the defense more time to review an extra four terabytes of evidence. A status conference originally scheduled for March 10 has been adjourned to April 10 by the New York District Court.
The court agreed with the US government’s request, stating that the delay is necessary “to enable the defense to review voluminous discovery.” The government had already submitted 600 gigabytes of evidence to the defense on February 27, including data from Do Kwon’s cellphones, emails, and cryptocurrency trades. Additionally, they anticipate providing an additional four terabytes of discovery to the defense by the end of next week.
The court order delaying the conference reaffirms that the final trial date is set for January 26, 2026. Do Kwon was extradited from Montenegro to the US on December 31, 2024, after a lengthy legal process. He pleaded not guilty to his US charges on January 2.
