Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse Collaborate to Bring PIXEL Token to MMORPG Runiverse
Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse, two crypto games on the Ethereum scaling network Ronin, have joined forces to introduce Pixels’ PIXEL token to the recently launched massively-multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Runiverse. Developed by Biosonic, Forgotten Runiverse is inspired by the Ethereum NFT collection Forgotten Runes Wizard’s Cult and made the switch from layer-2 Arbitrum to Ronin in July 2024. The game is set to introduce its own native token, XP, which will serve as the ecosystem token for Forgotten Runes.
Pixels, a social farming game, also transitioned to Ronin in late 2023, sparking renewed interest in the Ethereum network prior to the launch of the PIXEL token. With a recent initiative to open up Ronin to all developers, the collaboration between the two teams is now in full swing.
“We’ve always seen a lot of potential synergy between our teams, as we both are focused on creating interoperable, sustainable Web3 economies. We’re constantly thinking about how we can work together to push that vision forward,” shared Pixels founder Luke Barwikowski in an interview with Decrypt. “Honestly, if there’s one thing the industry needs right now, it’s more collaboration. Ultimately, this is a win-win for all of us.”
Through this partnership, Runiverse players will have the opportunity to earn PIXEL rewards using Quanta, the in-game currency of Forgotten Runiverse. PIXEL will also be utilized for purchasing mana, boosts, and exclusive items within the game.
The integration of PIXEL into Runiverse aims to not only enhance token utility but also provide valuable data to optimize player engagement and play-to-earn strategies. By analyzing player behavior and leveraging big data, AI, and predictive analytics, the teams seek to refine play-to-earn models and enhance reward efficiency.
To commemorate the collaboration, special Runiverse-themed quests will be introduced in Pixels, along with a unique Runiverse avatar available before the official launch of PIXEL in the MMORPG. The token integration is anticipated to occur within this quarter.
Barwikowski emphasized that the collaboration with the Forgotten Runiverse team is just the beginning. “The ultimate goal is to work together and bring Web3 into the mainstream. At Pixels, we’re committed to sharing our insights and tools to help other games scale and grow because collective progress benefits us all in the long term.”
Pixels has generated over $20 million in revenue and has more than 10 million registered players. The PIXEL token has been integrated not only into the core Pixels game but also in the spinoff Pixel Dungeons, which was launched in December.
The collaboration between Pixels and Forgotten Runiverse signifies a significant step forward in the evolution of blockchain gaming, showcasing the potential for innovative token economies and enhanced player experiences in the burgeoning Web3 space.
