Pixelverse is making big moves in the world of Web3 gaming with the launch of Pixelverse Arcade on the Ethereum layer-2 network, Base, and a game on the decentralized social media platform, Farcaster. This transition marks a shift towards a more open environment, allowing for on-chain features, collectibles, and collaboration with other Web3 communities.
Kori Leon, co-founder of Pixelverse, shared the company’s excitement for this new chapter, stating, “We were one of the biggest Telegram games with millions of players, real revenue, and proof that simple crypto games can scale fast. We’re still building on Telegram, but we recognize the limitations of a Web2-style audience. By expanding to Base and Farcaster, we can integrate Web3 mechanics on a larger scale.”
The first game to be launched on Pixelverse Arcade is Storychain, a unique AI-agent powered game that revolves around collaborative storytelling on Farcaster. The game allows users to contribute to a story chain by responding to prompts created by the AI-agent. Once completed, the chain is minted as a one-of-a-kind NFT, with rarity based on the starting point of the story.
Leon explained, “Different starting points can produce different types of NFTs, with higher rarity when a story begins under a popular or trending post. This creates a viral loop, where the visibility of a post attracts more participants, ultimately increasing the value of the resulting NFT.”
The success of Storychain will be measured by the number of people minting completed story NFTs, as well as the engagement and activity within the game. Additionally, a reward pool of PIXFI, Pixelverse’s ecosystem token, will be integrated into the game, tying into the entire Pixelverse Arcade experience.
These developments are part of Pixelverse’s strategic shift towards Base and Farcaster, where the co-founder emphasized the importance of operating on open Web3 protocols. He noted, “On Farcaster, every interaction is Web3-native from the start, connected to Coinbase Wallet and Base. This difference is crucial as we aim to engage with users who are already crypto-native, leading to stronger engagement and conversion rates.”
