Pavel Durov Discusses the Future of TON Cryptocurrency at Token2049 Conference
During the Token2049 conference in Dubai, Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram messenger, shared insights on the upcoming developments for the TON cryptocurrency. Durov outlined how everyday Telegram users will soon be able to utilize Toncoin (TON) for various transactions within the platform.
Starting from April 19, administrators of Telegram channels will have the option to receive payments in TON for advertising services. Additionally, users will have the ability to tip administrators in TON, with content creators receiving a share of the earnings.
Furthermore, users will soon be able to buy and sell stickers as NFTs using TON, with sticker artists earning 95% of the proceeds. Telegram will introduce mini-applications where users can purchase content using cryptocurrency, and sharing TON with contacts will also be possible within the messaging platform.
“Imagine if someone owned this sticker as an NFT when it came out a few years ago. I think the price increases with the challenge. What we’ve experienced with again, stickers are very, very popular.”
Pavel Durov, Telegram Founder
Durov mentioned that users will soon be able to log into their Telegram accounts using cryptocurrency wallets and even register the rights to their account names for potential resale. These new features will be accessible to all users without the need for programming skills.
“For the first time in social media history, you can directly own your username, sell it, put it up for auction, buy multiple usernames, and attach them to your account.”

Recently, TON was added to the list of blockchain networks supporting the largest stablecoin by capitalization. Speculation about the launch of USDT on TON arose following an announcement of a joint appearance by Durov and the head of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, at a crypto conference in Dubai.
