Adidas Teams Up with Xociety for Limited Edition NFT Mystery Boxes
Adidas and the creators of the Sui-based game Xociety have joined forces to introduce a unique collaboration that will excite both gamers and blockchain enthusiasts. The partnership, unveiled this week, will see the release of limited edition NFT mystery boxes containing exclusive in-game character skins, showcasing Adidas’ foray into the world of blockchain technology.
What to Expect
Scheduled to launch on May 16, the collection will feature 2,600 mystery boxes priced at $129 each. Inside each box, players can discover Adidas-themed virtual clothing and accessories designed for their avatars in Xociety—a popular “pop shooter” game built on the Sui blockchain.
The Contents
Every mystery box will contain Adidas-branded digital clothing sets of varying rarity levels, ranging from “Uncommon” to “First.” In addition to the virtual apparel, the boxes will also include authenticity certificates and XCS tokens, which represent corporate shares in Xociety. These tokenized apparel NFTs can be traded on various marketplaces post-launch.

Availability and Rarity
The mystery boxes will be up for grabs on the Sui NFT platform Tradeport, with sales continuing until May 23. The most exclusive “First” tier boxes will feature all eight available Adidas skin sets, while the “Uncommon” boxes will include three sets each. Each set comprises an Adidas-branded top, bottom, and sneakers for players’ digital avatars.
Gameplay and Future Plans
Xociety will be hosting its next playtest on May 15, with the game accessible through the Epic Games Store. The company secured $7.5 million in funding last summer to support the development of the game, showcasing its commitment to delivering an exceptional gaming experience.
Adidas’ NFT Journey
This collaboration marks Adidas’ continued exploration of the NFT space, following previous partnerships with the likes of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. The renowned athletic apparel brand has also ventured into NFT drops with crypto projects such as Doodles and Stepn, demonstrating its innovative approach to engaging with the digital collectibles market.
A Shift in the Industry
While Adidas embraces the opportunities presented by NFTs, other industry giants have taken different paths. Nike, for instance, recently closed its RTFKT subsidiary—known for producing co-branded digital and physical sneaker releases—three years after acquiring the once-promising Web3 startup. This move highlights the evolving landscape of the apparel industry and the diverse strategies adopted by key players.
