The Managing Partner and Founder of Burwick Law, Max Burwick, has found himself in the midst of a controversy surrounding the launch of the DOGSHIT2 token, which is at the center of an ongoing Pump Fun lawsuit. Despite Burwick claiming that his firm had no involvement in the token, there is evidence to suggest otherwise.
Research conducted by crypto influencer Wirelyss has revealed that the account responsible for launching DOGSHIT2, known as “Bigbl,” shares the same crypto address as the purchaser of the DeGods NFT, identified as “y00t #6430.” This connection raises questions about the true origins of the token.
An associate of Burwick, @brandon_galang, was spotted meeting with Burwick in 2023 for some “degen yoga.” A photo shared by Galang showed three individuals with NFT pictures covering their faces, with one of the NFTs being the y00t #6430 linked to the Bigbl Pump Fun account.
The Bigbl crypto address purchased the y00t #6430 NFT for over $31,000 on December 30, 2022, adding further fuel to the speculation surrounding Burwick’s involvement in the DOGSHIT2 token.
Despite Burwick Law’s denial of launching DOGSHIT2 onchain, screenshots in the lawsuit against Pump Fun detail the token’s step-by-step launch process. Pump Fun is accused of offering and selling unregistered securities without providing essential investor protections.
When questioned about the creation of the token, Burwick evasively responded, “Why would it matter?” This lack of transparency has raised concerns about the firm’s credibility in the crypto community.
Wirelyss has criticized Burwick Law for denying the on-chain launch of the token, suggesting that the firm may have launched it off-chain instead. This attempt to shift accountability onto the token’s first buyer only adds to the confusion surrounding the situation.
While the lawsuit against Pump Fun may face challenges, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s recent statement on memecoins complicates the legal landscape. The SEC has stated that memecoins do not fall under federal securities laws, potentially undermining the basis of the lawsuit against Pump Fun.
As the controversy unfolds, it remains to be seen how Burwick Law and Wirelyss will respond to these developments. Stay tuned for updates on this unfolding saga.
