Cassette has recently unveiled version 0.2.0 of its decentralized storage application, bringing forth a range of new features designed to elevate user experience and broaden functionality. Leveraging NeoFS technology, Cassette offers a decentralized storage solution akin to Dropbox with unique blockchain capabilities.
Exciting New Features
One of the standout additions is the integration of NeoNS, which now allows users to assign user-friendly names to their storage containers. In the context of NeoFS, containers serve as virtual folders for organizing files. Users can now share containers publicly using either their unique ID or their NeoNS name, both of which are conveniently accessible through Cassette’s built-in NeoFS browser.
Cassette has also introduced the Cassette URI scheme, which can be formatted as cstt://. This feature enables users to access files directly within the application using Cassette URLs. For example, simply entering cstt://getcassette.neo/logo.png into a browser will promptly open the specified file within Cassette.
Furthermore, Cassette now boasts enhanced web hosting capabilities on NeoFS. The new directory upload feature preserves the original file and folder structure through the use of the FilePath attribute. To illustrate this functionality, the Cassette team showcased a Wikipedia page hosted on NeoFS:

A Glimpse into Cassette’s Journey
The journey of Cassette began under the moniker GreenFinch in late 2021, culminating in the prestigious Best Middleware Project award at the Neo Polaris Launchpad hackathon. By 2022, GreenFinch secured funding as the inaugural successful GrantShares proposal, receiving 825 NEO to further develop the GreenFinch API. The first iteration of the application was unveiled in 2023, catering to Windows and Mac users on the Neo N3 MainNet.
Fast forward to June 2024, and GreenFinch underwent a rebranding to Cassette alongside a comprehensive rewrite of its foundational codebase. This strategic overhaul aimed to streamline future development processes, enabling agile iteration and seamless feature updates.
