Circle, a leading stablecoin issuer, is making waves in the investment world with its latest move to raise additional funding. After already securing $624 million in investments, the company is now aiming for a larger capital raise that could potentially raise its valuation to $7.2 billion.
The company announced on Monday, June 2, that it is looking to issue up to 32 million shares priced between $27 and $28, with the goal of bringing in an additional $896 million in investments. This follows a previous successful offering where Circle raised $624 million from the sale of 24 million shares priced between $24 and $26, pushing its valuation to $6.7 billion.
One of the key factors driving investor interest in Circle is the regulatory clarity surrounding stablecoins, particularly with the proposed STABLE Act under the current administration. With Circle being the issuer of USD Coin (USDC), the second-largest stablecoin globally, investors are optimistic about the future of the industry.
USDC, with a market cap of $60.93 billion, has seen a significant increase in value, rising 40% from $43 billion in January 2025. Circle’s revenue primarily comes from the interest earned on U.S. Treasuries backing its stablecoin reserves, bringing in $557.9 million in revenue in Q1 2025—a 55.1% increase year over year.
The underwriting of the offering is being handled by prestigious financial institutions such as J.P. Morgan, Citigroup, and Goldman Sachs. The offering is set to close on Wednesday, June 4, with Circle trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CRCL.
This latest funding round comes after Circle’s unsuccessful attempt to go public via a SPAC merger in July 2021. Despite the setback, the company has continued to thrive and attract significant investment interest, solidifying its position as a key player in the stablecoin market.
With a strong track record of growth and a clear vision for the future, Circle is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for stablecoins and secure its place as a leader in the crypto industry. Investors are eagerly watching as the company navigates the ever-evolving regulatory landscape and continues to drive innovation in the digital asset space.
