Base Network Surpasses Solana in Daily Token Launches
In a surprising turn of events, Coinbase’s Base network has overtaken Solana in daily token launches, a position no other chain has held for the past two years. This shift, which began around July 26th, shows no signs of slowing down.
The driving force behind this surge is Zora Coins, a launchpad built on Base that is now producing over 60,000 tokens daily, with peaks reaching close to 80,000. This far surpasses high-volume Solana platforms like Pump.fun and LetsBonk.
From a technical standpoint, a clear shift in volume dominance can be seen on the charts after June 29th. While Solana launchpads like Pump.fun were leading in May and early June, Base-native tools like Zora and Moonshot have taken over since then.
The increase in tokens being launched on Base is not just a sign of higher output but also indicates deeper network consolidation. Base is now the primary chain for token creation, soaking up the majority of this market.
As the Web3 ecosystem evolves, blockchains are focusing on performance and scalability. Base is emerging as a standout player in this space. Operating as an Ethereum Layer-2 rollup, Base inherits Ethereum’s security features while significantly reducing gas costs and improving throughput. Its full compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) makes it easy for developers to deploy applications with minimal friction. Additionally, with Coinbase’s backing, Base offers a trusted and user-friendly entry point into the world of token creation.
Despite Base’s rise, Solana still leads in raw throughput, processing over 4,000 transactions per second on-chain. This makes Solana ideal for use cases like decentralized finance (DeFi) where speed is crucial. However, when it comes to token launches, Base is taking the spotlight. Tools like Zora and Moonshot make it effortless to create tokens quickly.
In the context of memecoins, social tokens, and community drops, Base is rapidly becoming the preferred chain for high-frequency token creation. While Solana excels in transaction speed, Base’s ease of use and builder energy are making it the go-to choice for token launches.
With Base network’s rapid growth and dominance in daily token launches, it will be interesting to see how this trend continues to unfold in the evolving landscape of blockchain technology.
