VOYA Games, a crypto gaming studio, has recently secured $5 million in funding in a round led by 1kx and Makers Fund, with additional investment from RockawayX. Angel investors Jeff Zirlin, co-founder of Sky Mavis, and Sebastien Borget, COO of The Sandbox, also participated in the funding round.
CEO and founder of VOYA Games, Oliver Loffler, expressed the studio’s vision of building a token ecosystem that connects games through a shared player economy and culture. The funding will be utilized to launch their upcoming game, Craft World, and to establish the company for long-term growth.
About Craft World
Craft World is described as a casual resource management game featuring NFT items, where players immerse themselves in a world where humans coexist with dinosaurs following a meteor impact on Earth. Players engage in farming activities to gather resources for constructing various structures within the game. Currently in its testnet phase, Craft World has already garnered over 100,000 downloads on Android, with more than 240,000 registered players and over 1.1 million testnet trades between players.
1kx partner, known as Peter Pan, commended VOYA Games for prioritizing openness and ownership within their Web3 gaming ecosystem, likening the game world to a public good rather than a closed economy.
The game utilizes Dyno Coin, a utility token used by players to purchase NFT items and engage in crafting activities. The team emphasizes that Dyno Coin is not intended for speculative trading and is currently not listed on crypto exchanges.
