DFZ Labs, the innovative minds behind the Ethereum NFT project Deadfellaz, are set to introduce a groundbreaking asset verification tool that revolutionizes the way users can connect their online and offline assets. This tool eliminates the need for signing transactions or accessing websites, providing a seamless and secure experience for blockchain users.
Coldlink, currently in its beta phase, empowers blockchain enthusiasts to link their blockchain address to any asset in Web2, Web3, or the physical world without the inherent security risks associated with blind signing or smart contract approvals. According to DFZ Labs’ CEO Betty, the concept of “Coldlinking” allows users to safely connect digital assets without granting permissions to the wallet holding the asset. This innovative tool not only acknowledges digital asset ownership but also rewards users in real life without the complexities of Web3 infrastructure or development work.
The journey towards Coldlink began in 2022 when DFZ Labs recognized the need for a secure way for their community to access gaming developments without compromising their assets. With Coldlink, users can unlock a myriad of new connections between blockchain and real-world assets. For instance, users can link their blockchain address to a PO box to receive physical items anonymously or connect a digital music collectible to a physical concert ticket number to unlock rewards from event organizers.
While existing products like Delegate.xyz offer ways to secure on-chain assets by linking wallets, Coldlink sets itself apart by eliminating the need for smart contract interaction or blind signing. Instead, Coldlink utilizes unique transaction markers paired with database entries to establish asset links. This approach ensures a safer, quicker, and more interoperable solution that can seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure to address various challenges.
The CEO of DFZ Labs highlights the significance of Coldlink for communities with rare or valuable digital assets, such as CryptoPunks, who may have been hesitant to verify ownership of their NFTs due to privacy concerns. Coldlink opens up new possibilities for participation in digital ownership experiences, catering to collectors who were previously reluctant to connect their wallets or sign transactions.
To kickstart the Coldlink journey, a public load test will allow users with Solana or Ethereum addresses to create links to other addresses at Coldlink.xyz. Users can only create links from addresses they own, but they have the flexibility to connect their Coldlinks to any asset. This unique gifting feature enables actions like granting access to a friend’s asset for a specific event.
As Coldlink evolves, new blockchains, applications, and link types, including connections to offline assets, will be introduced on a weekly basis. The product’s advanced custom integrations have garnered interest from over 150 top projects, including PunksDAO and NFC Lisbon, who are eager to test the capabilities of Coldlink.
In a world where digital asset ownership is on the rise, Coldlink emerges as a universal, wallet-agnostic solution that bridges the gap between digital assets and various online and offline spaces. With Coldlink, users can navigate the digital asset landscape securely and seamlessly, unlocking new possibilities for ownership and engagement.
