Liberland Prime Minister Justin Sun Absent from Trump Inauguration Events
Liberland Prime Minister Justin Sun was notably missing from Donald Trump’s inauguration and related events on Monday, despite previous claims that he would be in attendance alongside close allies of the new president.
Earlier reports indicated that Sun and Liberland President Vít Jedlička were scheduled to participate in events such as Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, the Starlight Ball, and the cabinet reception. However, Sun’s name was unexpectedly removed from the official press release, leaving only Jedlička’s name on the list.
During his 2025 pitch for Liberland, Sun had boasted about meeting with prominent Trump associates Eric Trump and Steve Witkoff at the inauguration on January 20. Despite these claims, there is no evidence of Sun’s presence at the event.
In addition to the inauguration, Sun was also expected to attend a Liberland Davos event coinciding with the World Economic Forum. However, his name has been omitted from the latest press release, raising questions about his current whereabouts.
Despite being elected as the prime minister of Liberland twice, it remains uncertain whether Sun has visited the micronation at all. The press office of Liberland has repeatedly declined to comment on the matter.
While there are photos of Liberland Vice President Bogie Wozniak at the inauguration alongside Argentinian President Javier Milei, there is a noticeable absence of any images featuring Sun across his various social media accounts.
Justin Sun’s Support for Trump
Justin Sun has recently invested $75 million in the Trump-endorsed cryptocurrency project World Liberty Financial (WLF). Additionally, the crypto firm has acquired $48 million worth of Sun’s Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and $7.5 million of his Tron (TRX) cryptocurrency.
Last November, Sun was appointed as a crypto advisor for WLF and has been instrumental in promoting Trump’s newfound crypto-positive stance globally.
However, Sun’s legal troubles with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) under the Biden administration have raised concerns. In 2023, the SEC charged Sun with selling unregistered securities and market manipulation, prompting a legal battle between Sun’s defense team and the regulatory body.
Despite attempts to dismiss the case, the SEC amended its filings to highlight Sun’s extensive travels to the US and his promotional activities for Tron in San Francisco.
Protos has reached out to Liberland representatives for clarification on Sun’s absence from recent events and will update accordingly upon receiving a response.
