New Blockchain-Powered Gaming Studio Emerges with Industry Veterans
A new gaming studio with a team of industry veterans from top companies like Sony, Amazon, Riot, Blizzard, Ubisoft, and Epic has been announced. These experienced developers have previously worked on popular titles such as Call of Duty, Valorant, Fortnite, and Planetside 2, among others.
The studio’s decision to utilize blockchain technology for the game economy brings a new level of functionality and sustainability. By choosing L2 Etherlink, a blockchain platform specifically designed for gaming, the studio aims to deliver seamless processing and scalability required for creating AAA titles.
Introducing a Groundbreaking Web3 Gaming Experience
Leading the newly formed gaming studio is a co-creator of well-known titles like EverQuest, Planetside 2, and H1Z1. With a significant funding of $30.5 million led by Bitkraft and Brevan Howard Digital, the studio has garnered support from industry players like The Tezos Foundation, Hashed, Delphi Ventures, and more.
The game, set on the island of Marova, will immerse players in the role of elite operatives called Reapers. Players can build and manage bases, engage in territorial warfare, and participate in resource extraction in a PvPvE world.
Upon release, the game will be available on popular platforms like Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the official website. Players will have the opportunity to trade rarities such as characters, bases, skins, and craft items within the Reaper Actual Ecosystem and via Etherlink.
The studio believes that empowering players to create content will foster a stronger community and enhance the game’s economy. CEO John Smedley expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the benefits of blockchain technology in delivering a transparent and sustainable gaming environment.
Head of Gaming at Trilitech, Efe Kucuk, emphasized the seamless integration of Etherlink in the gaming experience, providing players with a frictionless and permanent infrastructure when needed.
The studio is gearing up to launch the “Foundation” phase, or pre-alpha, in the near future. This phase will offer early access to the game and introduce on-chain tradable items, setting the stage for an immersive gaming experience.
