Galaxy Digital, the crypto financial services firm founded by Michael Novogratz, has made a significant hire. Anthony Paquette, the former chief financial officer of Point72, will be stepping into the same role at Galaxy Digital. This move comes as Alex Ioffe, the current CFO, transitions into a senior adviser position within the company.
Paquette brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having spent four years at Steve Cohen’s hedge fund Point72. During his time there, he oversaw global finance, treasury, and broker relations. Prior to that, Paquette held positions at SoFi, JP Morgan Chase, and Bank of America.
In a statement, Paquette expressed his excitement about joining Galaxy Digital, praising the company’s reputation as a leader in digital assets and emerging technologies. He also emphasized his commitment to building upon the firm’s finance team and solidifying its position as an industry leader.
Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz thanked Ioffe for his contributions to the company, particularly in building a strong finance team and preparing for a potential U.S. listing. Galaxy Digital has been working towards a listing on Nasdaq, but is still awaiting approval from the SEC to move its headquarters from the Cayman Islands to Delaware.
Overall, Paquette’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to further strengthen Galaxy Digital’s financial operations and position the company for continued growth and success in the rapidly evolving crypto market.
