Gemini Launches Tokenized Strategy Shares for EU Customers
Crypto exchange Gemini has recently introduced tokenized Strategy (MSTR) shares for customers in the EU, marking the beginning of its rollout of tokenized U.S. equities on blockchain networks.
The offering, made possible through a collaboration with tokenization platform Dinari, allows Gemini users to purchase fractional shares of Strategy as on-chain tokens backed by real securities.
Initially available on Arbitrum (ARB), MSTR tokens are set to expand to additional networks in the near future, as mentioned in the exchange’s announcement on June 27.
Gemini stated that the purpose of this move is to democratize access to U.S. stocks by merging traditional equities with the 24/7 liquidity and accessibility of crypto markets. The exchange highlighted that anyone worldwide with a smartphone and an internet connection can now gain access to tokenized U.S. equities such as MSTR on the blockchain.
In the upcoming days, Gemini plans to introduce more tokenized stocks and ETFs, positioning the product as a means to export U.S. equities globally and facilitate borderless financial participation.
Tokenized stocks offer the same economic rights as the underlying shares, where permitted, along with benefits like fractional ownership, reduced transaction friction, and direct on-chain settlement. They serve as an alternative gateway to U.S. equity markets for global investors facing high currency conversion costs and limited brokerage access.
Gemini’s launch of tokenized stocks aligns with its broader vision to modernize financial rails by combining traditional assets with blockchain infrastructure. The exchange is among the first major platforms to offer tokenized stock options in compliance-focused jurisdictions, reflecting the growing institutional interest in digital asset rails for traditional securities settlement and custody.
Overall, Gemini’s introduction of tokenized Strategy shares signifies a significant step towards bridging the gap between traditional equities and the blockchain world, ultimately enhancing accessibility and liquidity for a wider range of investors.
