Taipei — Kaia DLT Foundation and Taiwan Mobile Collaborate to Boost Web3 Ecosystem
In a significant move for Taiwan’s technology landscape, the Kaia DLT Foundation (Kaia) and Taiwan Mobile, a prominent telecommunications provider, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enhance the country’s Web3 ecosystem. This partnership brings together Taiwan Mobile’s extensive local presence with Kaia’s cutting-edge blockchain technology to facilitate easier entry into the market, promote compliant DeFi infrastructure, and expedite the adoption of hybrid digital-asset solutions.
Building Taiwan’s Web3 Community
The primary focus of this collaboration is to strengthen Taiwan’s Web3 developer and user community. By improving local infrastructure, the partnership aims to encourage the development of innovative decentralized applications (Dapps), such as stablecoin decentralized exchanges (DEXs) and yield-generating protocols.
Additionally, Kaia and Taiwan Mobile will work towards expanding access for mainstream users by exploring hybrid deposit and withdrawal solutions that bridge fiat and digital assets. Through the integration of blockchain-powered systems with trusted financial networks, the aim is to simplify the process for everyday consumers to engage with Web3 technologies without facing technical barriers.
Driving Compliance and Trust
Emphasizing regulatory alignment and user safety, the initiative seeks to create an ecosystem of Taiwan-based DeFi protocols that prioritize compliance. By establishing a secure environment, the partnership aims to instill confidence among both institutional entities and retail users.
“This partnership is about unlocking the full potential of Web3 for Taiwan,” stated Luke Han, Vice President at Taiwan Mobile and General Manager of Fusheng Digital. “Together with Kaia, we aim to lower barriers to entry, expand infrastructure, and introduce the exciting possibilities of Web3 to millions of users. Our shared mission is to enhance compliance and user safety, setting a new standard for Web3 through our combined efforts.”
TWEX and Kaia’s Growing Presence
Taiwan Mobile has already demonstrated its commitment to blockchain technology with the launch of TWEX, the country’s first institutional centralized exchange (CEX) through Fusheng Digital. Since its introduction in May, TWEX has gained traction as a secure and compliant platform for digital asset trading.
On the other hand, Kaia has been actively collaborating with LINE NEXT, LINE’s Web3 venture, to facilitate the transition of millions of users from Web2 to Web3. Through the amalgamation of the Klaytn and Finschia blockchains—originally developed by Kakao and LINE—Kaia has become Asia’s largest Web3 ecosystem, integrated into messaging apps with a combined user base exceeding 250 million.
Dr. Sam Seo, Chairman of Kaia Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Taiwan is a promising Web3 market in APAC, and we are thrilled to work with Taiwan Mobile to establish a robust Web3 infrastructure here. Leveraging Taiwan Mobile and TWEX’s strengths, we will promote compliant Web3 deposit/withdrawal solutions, accelerating the adoption of Kaia assets and blockchain services while enhancing the overall Web3 user experience.”
Toward an Inclusive Web3 Future
Together, Kaia and Taiwan Mobile aim to create an open, secure, and inclusive Web3 ecosystem in Taiwan. By combining global blockchain expertise with strong local market reach, the collaboration sets a new standard for cooperation between the telecommunications and Web3 sectors. This partnership paves the way for millions of Taiwanese users to seamlessly access decentralized services in a safe and reliable manner.
