Lotte Group Launches Tokenized Voucher System on Blockchain
South Korea’s retail giant Lotte Group has made a significant foray into blockchain technology. Daehong Communications, its marketing and communications arm, has recently introduced a tokenized voucher system on the Aptos blockchain.
Giftiel, a subsidiary platform of Daehong, has successfully issued over 1 million real-world vouchers on the blockchain since the rollout commenced in early July 2025. This innovative system has already attracted more than 500,000 users who now possess blockchain-based vouchers, all without the need to engage directly with cryptocurrency tools or wallets.
This development represents a major milestone in South Korea’s voucher and loyalty economy, marking one of the largest real-world blockchain integrations in the country.
Seamless Blockchain Integration with Aptos
The Aptos blockchain now facilitates the entire lifecycle of vouchers, including issuance, distribution, and redemption. By leveraging blockchain technology, Daehong aims to streamline capital flow while ensuring a seamless user experience for Giftiel users.
Users are not required to manage wallets or tokens manually, as the onboarding process to Web3 occurs in the background through Aptos’ invisible infrastructure layer. This approach reduces entry barriers and enables traditional consumers to easily access blockchain-powered services.
Aptos recently shared this development on social media, highlighting that “from coupons to stablecoins, the future of finance runs on Aptos.”
Future Expansion Plans: Points, Digital Assets, and Stablecoins
The tokenized voucher system is just the beginning for Daehong, as the company plans to expand its blockchain ecosystem to support points, digital assets, and stablecoins across Lotte Group’s various businesses, including retail, hospitality, and finance.
With over 5 million users already on Giftiel, the potential impact of this expansion is significant and could potentially create one of the largest consumer blockchain ecosystems in Asia. This integration has the potential to redefine how consumers engage with promotions, rewards, and currency, without necessarily being aware that they are utilizing blockchain technology.
Driving Mass Adoption of Web3
Lotte Group’s initiative demonstrates how traditional corporations can leverage blockchain technology at scale without imposing additional complexity on end-users. It also showcases Aptos’ ability to support high-volume, real-world applications effectively.
If the tokenized voucher system proves successful, it could pave the way for other major Asian companies to adopt blockchain technology in their rewards and payment systems. This move by Lotte Group may serve as a catalyst for companies looking to modernize their operations without disrupting their existing processes.
