Nexpace Announces Launch Date for MapleStory N on Avalanche Blockchain
Nexpace, a blockchain company backed by South Korean gaming giant Nexon, revealed that its highly anticipated Web3 expansion of the popular MapleStory franchise will be released on May 15. The new game, MapleStory N, will introduce a unique blend of the franchise’s classic 2D side-scrolling gameplay with cryptocurrency assets on the Avalanche blockchain. This innovative approach will enable players to own and trade in-game assets securely on-chain. To facilitate this new gaming experience, Nexpace has established its own dedicated Avalanche L1 chain called Henesys, which was successfully launched in April.
CEO of Nexpace, Sunyoung Hwang, expressed excitement about the upcoming launch, stating, “The release of MapleStory N signifies the culmination of extensive development efforts, comprehensive user testing, and unwavering community support. This milestone doesn’t just mark the introduction of a new game; it signifies the start of a new chapter in gaming history.”

The announcement of the release date comes after extensive playtesting that generated an impressive 31.5 million on-chain transactions, with nearly one million digital wallets registered during the testing phase. MapleStory N will introduce what Nexpace refers to as “Reward Experience 2.0,” enabling players to issue, trade, and manage in-game items on the blockchain. Additionally, the game will incorporate mechanisms for players to contribute content and earn ecosystem tokens as rewards.
Having garnered a massive following since its inception 22 years ago, the MapleStory franchise boasts over 250 million users worldwide. MapleStory N will be accessible on PC platforms, offering fans a new and exciting gaming experience within the MapleStory Universe ecosystem. Originally planned for development on the Ethereum scaling network Polygon, the project transitioned to Avalanche in 2024, aligning with the company’s vision for scalability and efficiency.
