The team behind the popular crypto MMORPG MapleStory N has taken decisive action against cheaters, recently announcing the banning of thousands of accounts engaged in suspicious activity. In a developer’s note, the team revealed that they are actively monitoring the game for bot accounts and other forms of cheating.
According to the developer’s note, MapleStory N has implemented updates to its automated system, resulting in over 200 detections and corresponding sanctions being processed every hour. In addition to automated measures, the team is conducting manual reviews based on user reports and evidence submitted by players. This rigorous approach has led to the issuance of 6,503 sanctions in the past 24 hours alone.
The MapleStory N team is utilizing security tools to detect cheat programs and prevent players from using automation tools to gain an unfair advantage. They are keeping a close eye on activities such as mass logins, rapid character creation, unusual trading, and leveling patterns.
Since its launch just two weeks ago, MapleStory N has garnered attention for its unique crypto elements, utilizing its own dedicated Avalanche L1 subnet. However, the financial rewards associated with crypto gaming have attracted some players to engage in botting, a practice where automated programs are used to farm tokens or NFTs for profit.
Cheating, including botting, is a pervasive issue in the world of gaming, but it poses a particular challenge for crypto game developers. By extracting funds through illicit means, cheaters undermine the integrity of the game and deprive genuine players of rewards. This not only impacts the gaming experience but also diminishes revenue potential for the studio.
MapleStory N’s crackdown on cheaters sends a strong message that fair play is paramount in the world of crypto gaming. By actively monitoring and taking action against suspicious activity, the game’s team is working to create a level playing field for all players.
