Hytopia Launches AI-Powered Vibe Coding Competition for Web-Based Mini-Games
Hytopia, a Minecraft-esque crypto voxelverse and world-building game, is calling on creators to participate in a groundbreaking competition centered around AI-powered vibe coding. The competition aims to challenge creators to build web-based mini-games using Hytopia’s development kit and AI assistance, offering cash prizes to the creators of the top three games.
The competition, which will run for the next 14 days, allows participants to utilize vibe coding, a new coding approach that involves interacting with an AI assistant to simplify the coding process. This innovative method enables users of all skill levels to focus on generating ideas while the AI handles the technical aspects of coding.
“Vibe coding brothers, assemble! Time to vibe some better, faster, wilder multiplayer games,” exclaimed Hytopia’s co-founder, ArkDev, on social media.
To enter the competition, creators must utilize the Hytopia SDK and submit a mini-game that is at least 80% AI coded. Submissions will be accepted from April 1 to April 15, giving participants ample time to develop and fine-tune their creations. Community playtesters will then have the opportunity to test the games and vote for their favorites, with cash prizes of $3,500, $1,000, and $500 awarded to the top three winners.
Vibe-coded games have gained popularity in recent months, with notable figures like Elon Musk acknowledging the potential of AI-powered gaming experiences. While vibe coding allows for rapid prototyping and idea generation, industry experts caution that it may not produce production-quality code suitable for large-scale game development.
Hytopia, originally launched as NFT Worlds in 2022, underwent a transformation after Minecraft’s developer, Mojang, announced a ban on NFTs. The platform now offers a visually stunning game environment reminiscent of Minecraft, attracting creators and gamers alike.
