A transaction sent from a wallet address linked to Hayden Davis, one of the entrepreneurs connected to the launch of Libra, made at the same time he was in a meeting with President Milei, might help an ongoing probe advance with new data.
Libra Case Watch: Mysterious Transaction Involving Centralized Exchange Might Advance Probe
A recent development in the investigation of the La Libertad Avanza token, commonly known as Libra, has brought forth new evidence that could potentially advance the ongoing probe. Reports from local media suggest that a transaction originating from a wallet address associated with Hayden Davis, a key figure in the promotion of the Libra token and CEO of Kelsier Ventures, was sent to the centralized exchange Kraken, which holds crucial Know-Your-Customer (KYC) data of its users.
Interestingly, the transaction, amounting to almost $500,000, took place during a meeting between Davis, Mauricio Novelli (another entrepreneur connected to Libra), and President Javier Milei. Official records of the presidential meeting on January 30 confirm that the agenda included discussions on blockchain and decentralized technologies.
The timing and substantial amount of the transaction have raised suspicions among investigators, particularly in light of similar transactions that occurred shortly after the aforementioned meeting. Argentine prosecutors are now considering requesting information from Kraken regarding the recipient of the funds and any potential ties to the Libra token.
Prior to this latest transaction coming to light, various national bodies had submitted amicus curiae briefs advocating for President Milei to be directly questioned regarding his involvement in the Libra case. Despite Milei’s claims that he was acting in a personal capacity rather than as the President of Argentina when discussing Libra on social media, a recent ruling has cast doubt on this assertion, potentially implicating Milei in a political context.
As investigations continue both in the U.S. and Argentina, where reports suggest a significant number of individuals were impacted by the Libra debacle, the situation remains unresolved. The unfolding events underscore the complexity and far-reaching implications of the case.
