Pakistan Makes Waves at the UN General Assembly with Focus on Technology, Youth, and Sustainable Development
At the 80th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Pakistan showcased its commitment to shaping the global dialogue on technology, youth empowerment, and sustainable development. Minister of State for Crypto and Blockchain, Bilal Bin Saqib, represented Pakistan at two significant high-level side events, emphasizing the country’s stance on these crucial issues.
During the discussions on Social Business, Youth, and Technology, Pakistan highlighted the integral role that technology plays in the lives of millions in the developing world. From facilitating remittances to supporting micro-enterprises, digital tools have become a lifeline for many individuals and communities. Pakistan emphasized the importance of harnessing this grassroots momentum to create transparent and scalable systems that benefit society as a whole.

Furthermore, in the discussion on AI Capacity Building, Pakistan reiterated its belief that artificial intelligence is not a luxury but a necessity for developing nations. The country called for global cooperation to ensure equitable access to AI technologies and to establish ethical frameworks that protect vulnerable populations.
What set Pakistan’s interventions apart was not just the substance of the discussions but also the context in which they took place. Pakistan was actively engaged in shaping the global narrative on technology and development, signaling a shift from being a passive recipient to a proactive contributor of ideas and solutions.
The progress made in digital adoption, particularly in crypto and blockchain technologies, was lauded as a success story of how emerging economies can adapt quickly to meet pressing needs.
By engaging with key figures such as Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus, Microsoft President Brad Smith, and Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development and Innovation Zhaslan Madiyev, Pakistan demonstrated its readiness to lead in the Global South’s embrace of emerging technologies.
