Phantom Wallet Adds Support for Sui Blockchain
Phantom, the non-custodial crypto wallet, has recently announced the integration of the layer-1 blockchain Sui into its platform.
After the initial announcement made in December, Phantom and Sui have officially confirmed the support for the SUI token on the wallet. This integration marks a significant milestone as Sui becomes the first Move-based blockchain network to be connected to Phantom.
This development means that Phantom’s multichain wallet is now accessible to SUI holders, enabling millions of users to directly interact with this top 20 cryptocurrency token within their wallets. It is worth noting that Phantom has amassed over 15 million monthly active users.
“The launch of Sui as the first Move-based chain on the Phantom Wallet validates what the community has accomplished in the past year,” stated Christian Thompson, the managing director of the Sui Foundation. “Sui’s time has arrived, and it is clear that the ecosystem is ready to onboard the next billion users into crypto,” he added.
Users will not only be able to send, receive, and manage SUI on Phantom but also gain access to Sui token standard assets like BLUE and SEND. The integration supports swaps and facilitates connections to popular decentralized applications such as Suilend, Bluefin, Navi, and Aftermath.
Phantom Wallet’s Growth and Expansion
Originally launched as a Solana-centric wallet in 2021, Phantom has rapidly grown to become one of the most widely used wallets in the crypto market. Its expansion includes the addition of features like in-app token swaps, staking, NFT storage, and multichain integration. In November 2024, Phantom extended its support to the layer-2 blockchain Base.
Brandon Millman, the CEO of Phantom, emphasized the platform’s commitment to integrating only the most capable chains into the app. He highlighted Sui’s focus on scalability and superior user experience, aligning perfectly with Phantom’s mission of democratizing access to cryptocurrencies.
Recently, Phantom secured $150 million in its Series C funding round, valuing the platform at $3 billion. The funding round saw participation from renowned venture capital firms like Sequoia, Paradigm, and a16z Crypto, bringing the total VC funding raised by Phantom to $268 million.
