- Migrating Ronin Bridge to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), will enhance security and offer a more robust bridging experience for asset transfers between Ethereum and Ronin.
- The CCIP bridge will support a wider range of tokens, including WETH, USDC, PIXEL, and AXS, while some tokens, like WBTC and LUA, are not yet compatible.
After initiating the migration of the Ronin Bridge to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), the Ronin Network has embarked on a significant upgrade towards a more secure and efficient cross-chain infrastructure. This transition aims to provide users with a safer and more reliable experience when transferring assets between Ethereum and Ronin.
All About Ronin Bridge & Chainlink CCIP Collaboration
Last year, the Ronin Validators made a crucial decision by voting to adopt CCIP as the network’s primary bridge protocol. This transition marks a pivotal moment in the network’s evolution. Following the migration process, the community is gearing up to bid farewell to the legacy bridge and fully transition to Chainlink’s CCIP by the end of April.
This upgrade will expand the range of tokens that users can bridge, including popular tokens such as WETH, USDC, PIXEL, and AXS. However, it’s important to note that some tokens like WBTC, LUA, and LUAUSD are not yet supported by the CCIP bridge at this stage.
The Ronin team recently announced the commencement of the Ronin Bridge CCIP migration, emphasizing the enhanced bridge security powered by Chainlink. The team highlighted the ability to bridge tokens such as WETH, USDC, PIXEL, and AXS, while also confirming the deprecation of the older Ronin Bridge on April 21st.
Following the migration period, both the legacy Ronin Bridge and CCIP bridge will operate concurrently until April 21st, after which the older bridge will be decommissioned, and the CCIP bridge will take over all cross-chain functions by April 25th. Additionally, all tokens remaining on the legacy bridge will be automatically transferred to CCIP by April 24th and 25th.
Last month, Ronin made its debut on OpenSea, expanding its presence beyond the Axie Infinity platform. Users can now trade and mint NFTs directly on the world’s largest NFT marketplace, showcasing the network’s growing ecosystem and usability.
Call To Action For Developers & Exchanges
Developers and exchanges are urged to integrate CCIP into their systems promptly. The network encourages granting dual minter rights to CCIP if not already done, emphasizing the importance of this migration in raising the bar for cross-chain activities on Ronin.
The adoption of CCIP is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing interoperability within Web3 ecosystems, supporting connectivity across more than 46 networks. This collaboration is viewed as a significant milestone that brings communities together and paves the way for a more interconnected Web3 environment.
As the transition progresses, users are currently not required to take any action. However, starting from April 21st, all bridge activities must be conducted through CCIP, signaling the end of the CCIP legacy OD. This strategic move positions Ronin for a secure and scalable future in cross-chain operations.
