Tools for Humanity Launches Mini Apps 1.2 Update and Developer Rewards Program
Tools for Humanity, the for-profit firm behind Sam Altman’s crypto-powered World Network, has recently rolled out the latest update for its “Mini Apps” along with the launch of a Developer Rewards pilot program. The company announced that it has updated its Mini Apps to version 1.2, which brings enhanced features and functionalities for users. Additionally, Tools for Humanity is introducing a $300,000 Developer Rewards program exclusively shared with Blockworks.
Enhancements in Mini Apps 1.2
The Mini Apps version 1.2 update aims to improve the performance and user experience within the World mobile app. According to the company, the update includes faster loading times for mini apps, haptic feedback, customization options, and the ability to pin favorite mini apps to the phone’s home screen without opening the Worldcoin Wallet app. Users can also access mini apps through the search bar on iOS. The app is currently available in 30 countries, including the US.
Developer Rewards Pilot Program
Tools for Humanity’s Developer Rewards pilot program is set to kick off on April 1, allowing developers to earn rewards from a pool of $300,000 worth of Worldcoin or WLD by creating and updating mini apps. Devs have the opportunity to earn up to $25,000 per week in Worldcoin for developing top-performing apps, as stated by Tools for Humanity’s Chief Product Officer Tiago Sada.
The rewards will be distributed based on the engagement of World ID-verified users with each mini app. Various categories of mini apps, including games, AI assistants, finance apps, lending apps, airdrop apps, payment apps, and eSIM apps, have been gaining popularity within the World ecosystem. These apps can be used with stablecoins or WLD, and transactions are conducted on World’s Ethereum L2, World Chain.
Focus on User Rewards
Many of the mini apps within the World Network are designed to reward users for their actions rather than extracting funds from them. While user monetization is a consideration for the future, the current focus is on creating apps that provide value to users and developers alike. Concepts like play-to-earn, tap-to-earn, and move-to-earn are being explored to strike a balance between rewarding users and sustaining the ecosystem.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite the potential for user rewards, navigating transactions within mini apps can be challenging due to platform restrictions. Apple and Google’s app store rules, particularly around in-app purchases, can impact the functionality of certain transactions. However, Tools for Humanity is working to ensure seamless transactions within mini apps without incurring additional fees.
World’s unique selling proposition lies in its ability to differentiate between human users and bots, offering a more streamlined and secure communication platform compared to competitors like Telegram or X/Twitter. With a focus on transparency and user experience, World aims to provide a seamless and engaging environment for users to interact and transact.
As the world of mini apps continues to evolve, Tools for Humanity remains committed to fostering innovation and rewarding developers for their contributions to the World Network.
