Seed Go, a game powered by Sui and associated with Seed Combinator, has come under fire for alleged copyright infringement by Alexander Larsen, co-founder of Axie Infinity and Sky Mavis. Larsen publicly voiced his concerns, stating, “This infringes on our Axie Infinity IP, and it’s not okay,” in response to a tweet about the project.
Larsen called out two Mysten Labs co-founders, as well as Sui and Mysten Labs, urging them to address the issue to avoid legal complications. A representative from Sky Mavis has confirmed that they have informed the Sui team of the alleged infringement and are seeking a resolution outside of court.
Seed Go features pastel blob-like “Seedmon” NFT characters that players can breed, along with tokens SLOVE and SEED. The game is accessible through a Telegram mini-app.
Axie Infinity, a pioneer in the crypto gaming space since its launch in 2018, gained popularity with its Axies, NFT creatures that players can breed and battle with. The game also has tokens SLP and AXS.
Larsen recently revealed that Axie Infinity has generated over $1.3 billion in total revenue, solidifying its position in the industry.
Seed versus Axie Infinity
Jeffrey “Jiho” Zirlin, another co-founder of Ronin and Sky Mavis, humorously referred to Seed Go as “Axie at home,” drawing parallels to the popular “food at home” memes. These memes depict a scenario where a child asks for takeout or a restaurant meal, only to be told there is food at home that is less appealing.
Seed Combinator, managed by SeedDAO, has received backing from Sui developer Mysten Labs. Press releases from the project indicate that Seed drew inspiration from Pokemon Go and Axie Infinity, with investment from the Sui Foundation.

When contacted for comment, the Sui Foundation clarified that while they made a small investment in Seed, they maintain a distance from the project along with Mysten Labs.
