A new report reveals that Crypto Valley, the renowned blockchain hub encompassing Switzerland and Liechtenstein, has experienced a remarkable 132% growth since 2020, now hosting a total of 1,749 active companies. Zug remains at the forefront, serving as the epicenter for Switzerland’s thriving blockchain ecosystem.
The Growth Trajectory of Crypto Valley
The latest CV VC Crypto Valley Company & Industry Report sheds light on the exponential growth of blockchain firms within Crypto Valley. Zug has witnessed a 14% increase in the number of companies over the past year, solidifying its position as the home to over 40% of all web3 enterprises. Zürich follows closely behind with 15% of the market share, while regions like Ticino, Geneva, and Luzern are also experiencing steady growth in their blockchain sectors.
Industry Insights and Perspectives
Mathias Ruch, the CEO of CV VC, emphasizes the significant role played by Crypto Valley in the global blockchain landscape. He notes that over the past five years, Crypto Valley has demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and growth, boasting a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 18.8%. The report highlights infrastructure and financial services as the leading sectors, comprising 20% and 18% of the firms respectively, with consulting and advisory services making up 17%.
Heinz Tännler, the president of the Swiss Blockchain Federation, underscores the strategic importance of the Swiss blockchain industry on a global scale. He states that the data from the report validates the industry’s relevance and impact both nationally and internationally.
Evolution of Legal Structures
In addition to the sectoral growth, the report also points towards a shift in legal structures within the blockchain industry. While corporations and LLCs remain prevalent, associations and foundations have seen a surge in new filings, accounting for over 20% of the total in 2024. This evolution in legal frameworks reflects the dynamic nature of the blockchain ecosystem within Crypto Valley.
