Treasure, a crypto gaming ecosystem, has made a significant move by launching its new Ethereum layer-2 scaling network, departing from Arbitrum. This shift allows Treasure to tailor the network to its gaming-specific needs, unlocking new possibilities for gamers.
The newly launched Ethereum layer-2 network is part of ZKsync’s Elastic Chain, which is a network of interoperable zero-knowledge rollup chains. This network will utilize Treasure’s MAGIC token and requires the migration of over 15 games, hundreds of thousands of NFTs, and tokens from Arbitrum. Users can easily migrate using the Hyperlane bridge.
Treasure positions itself as a “decentralized game console,” using blockchain technology to power video game titles. Initially, the project had plans to build on Arbitrum by launching a web of “Infinity Chains.” However, Treasure reevaluated its priorities and opted for a gaming-specific layer-2 network to cater to its unique requirements.
According to Treasure co-founder Karel Vuong, the gaming-specific layer-2 network will enable projects to benefit from gasless transactions, social account creation, and specialized infrastructure for game economies. This move will enhance Treasure’s Game Exchange system, allowing players to trade assets, provide liquidity, and earn rewards within a game client more efficiently.
Additionally, the Treasure Development Kit will streamline the implementation of blockchain features in games, reduce direct smart contract interactions, and introduce AI agents into the gaming world. Players will have the option to log in via email, social accounts, or crypto wallets using ZKsync’s native account abstraction features.
After evaluating various options, Treasure chose ZKsync for its native account abstraction, ZK-based scalability, and Elastic Network interoperability, aligning perfectly with the project’s vision to revolutionize the gaming industry. The mainnet launch is ahead of schedule, with several games expected to debut on the new network by the end of the year and more in Q1 2025.
Notable games like Wanders, Bitmates, and Zeeverse are already onboard with Treasure, showcasing the platform’s growing momentum. Treasure is also planning to launch a campaign called Decentralized Entertainment System: Cartridges, offering daily free NFT mints based on games from the ecosystem.
In Q1 2025, staking using the Ethereum protocol EigenLayer for Treasure’s MAGIC token will be introduced, along with other use cases to enhance the decentralized game console. Exciting developments lie ahead for Treasure as it continues to innovate and expand its ecosystem.
