Bitget and UNICEF Partner to Empower Youth with Blockchain Skills
Bitget, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, has joined forces with UNICEF in Luxembourg to promote blockchain literacy and enhance digital skills among young people worldwide.
The three-year collaboration will see Bitget become a part of UNICEF’s Office of Innovation Game Changers Coalition, with a focus on empowering 300,000 individuals, including adolescent girls, parents, mentors, and teachers, with blockchain skills across eight countries: Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco, and South Africa.
One of the key initiatives of this partnership is the development of an interactive online and in-person blockchain training module by Bitget Academy, the educational arm of Bitget. This module will incorporate video game creation skills development for teachers and young people, expanding the reach of UNICEF’s existing curriculum to reach even more individuals. Additionally, Bitget will help extend the Coalition’s reach to a ninth country.
Sandra Visscher, Executive Director of UNICEF Luxembourg, emphasized the importance of digital skills in creating opportunities and fostering inclusion. She stated, “By collaborating with Bitget, we aim to provide adolescents and young people with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to shape their futures. Innovation should be a force for inclusion, opening doors, broadening horizons, and ensuring that technology benefits everyone, everywhere.”
In addition to developing educational modules, Bitget will introduce UNICEF to leading blockchain protocols and developers from the Web3 landscape to participate in the initiative. These industry experts can serve as mentors and partners, offering diverse perspectives and opportunities for utilizing blockchain technologies.
Gracy Chen, a representative of Bitget, highlighted the importance of introducing emerging technologies to all individuals, regardless of their background. She stated, “Blockchain, with its real-world applications and potential for social good, is a powerful tool that we can provide to the younger generation to create products that revolutionize modern society.”
Furthermore, Bitget and UNICEF are committed to closing the gender digital skills gap and empowering young women to thrive in the digital economy. Through initiatives like Blockchain4Her and partnerships with organizations like Women in Games, Bitget aims to reach 1.1 million girls by 2027, offering learning and skills-building opportunities to enhance digital literacy and financial independence.
The partnership between Bitget and UNICEF underscores the importance of equipping young people with the necessary skills to navigate the digital landscape and shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
