Massively multiplayer online (MMO) Ethereum game Eve Frontier is now offering a 10-day free trial for players to dive into its intense space survival experience. CCP Games founder and CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson describes the game as a frontier that “literally wants to kill you,” setting the stage for a challenging and immersive gameplay experience.
During the free trial period from June 27 to July 7, players can explore the vast universe of Eve Frontier, gather resources, construct bases, and earn Grace points. These points can be converted into permanent Eve Points, which track a player’s progress and legacy within the game.
The launch of the trial follows the recent introduction of “New Era” Founders Access, where CCP Games removed the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that previously restricted players from sharing details about the game. This move aims to open up the game to a wider audience and allow more players to experience life in the Frontier.
Eve Frontier operates on a cyclical system where short-term progress is reset at the start of each cycle. Despite this, players’ impact endures as they work towards long-term rewards. CCP Games chose a 10-day trial period to give new players ample time to acclimate and find their footing in the game.
Originally introduced through closed alpha access in December, Eve Frontier offered Founders Access passes at varying prices, with additional perks available in higher-tier packages. CCP Games has been actively collecting feedback from the community and refining the in-game economy, including hiring a former central bank economist to contribute to the development process.
As a spinoff of the popular Eve Online MMORPG, Eve Frontier appeals to a different type of player while still attracting interest from Eve Online fans. The game is built on the Ethereum-based Redstone gaming network and features two currencies—Eve, a utility token tradable outside the game, and LUX, a token used solely within the game.
With a successful $40 million fundraising round in 2023, CCP Games has been able to bring their blockchain-based game to market and introduce innovative crypto elements to the gameplay experience. The response to Eve Frontier’s blockchain integration has been positive, with players recognizing the potential for modding and third-party development within the game.
Overall, Eve Frontier offers a unique and challenging gaming experience that leverages blockchain technology to unlock new possibilities for players. As more players join through the free trial period, the game’s community and gameplay dynamics continue to evolve, providing a glimpse into the future of blockchain gaming.
