World, the proof of personhood and wallet platform, has introduced a new feature in Argentina that allows users to request a domiciliary iris scan for verification. This innovative service is currently available in the capital city and will soon be expanded nationwide.
World Introduces Domiciliary Iris Scans in Argentina
World is taking steps to make its verification services more accessible in Argentina. Recent reports reveal that the biometric ID project has launched domiciliary scanning services, enabling Argentinians to verify their identities from the comfort of their homes.
This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Rappi, a prominent delivery service provider in Latin America. The process involves the delivery of an Orb device to the user’s location for biometric data scanning.
In addition to domiciliary iris scans, World also offers a less invasive verification option where users can scan a government-issued ID, such as a passport, using the World app. Users have the flexibility to choose between these two verification methods.
Martín Mazza, General Manager of Tools For Humanity Latam, expressed his excitement about this milestone achievement, emphasizing the importance of universal access to secure and anonymous digital identity verification.
He commented:
The collaboration between Rappi and World signifies our shared belief in the transformative power of technology and innovation for driving progress in Latin America.
The partnership between World and Rappi was announced in November, sparking interest in the potential expansion of these services to other regions. While there were initial discussions about extending the domiciliary scanning services to Chile, Rappi has confirmed that this is not currently in the works.
Nevertheless, Juan Jose Guerrero, Global Operations Manager at Rappi, highlighted their commitment to broadening this feature to other parts of Latin America.
He stated:
While we have launched this service in Argentina, our goal is to extend this partnership to other Latin American countries, enabling thousands of individuals to verify their identities conveniently and securely from their homes.
Although the domiciliary iris scan services are currently limited to the capital city, Rappi has ambitious plans to expand the coverage to encompass the entire country in the near future.
