XRP Ledger (XRPL) developers have recently released a new server update to address a temporary network outage that affected node operations.
On November 25, XRPL experienced a partial network outage that impacted various node types, including Full History, Current Ledger, Pathfinding, and Submission nodes. The outage was caused by a missing ledger, which resulted in Ripple’s cluster and Full History servers losing access to the current ledger. This led to nodes being unable to validate transactions, causing disruptions across the network.
WietseWind from XRPL Labs noted that Full History servers, which store complete transaction data, faced reliability issues during the outage, affecting the network’s functionality. However, most nodes were able to resume normal operations without manual intervention.
To address these issues and prevent similar incidents in the future, Brad Chase, RippleX’s Vice President of Engineering, announced the release of a new 2.3.0 version update for XRPL node operators and validators. The update includes significant enhancements such as Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs), Clawback support for Automated Market Makers (AMMs), and features for bundling offers with NFT minting. It also introduces new credentials functionality and server stability improvements. Operators are advised to implement the update promptly due to changes in the voting mechanism within the ledger.
The timing of this update coincides with XRPL’s increasing involvement in tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), attracting institutional players like OpenEden and SG-FORGE, the crypto arm of Societe Generale.
Overall, the update aims to enhance network stability and ensure smoother operations for XRPL node operators and validators. Stay tuned for more updates on XRPL’s progress in the tokenization space.
