A certified ethical hacker is facing serious charges after allegedly stealing nearly $600,000 worth of cryptocurrency. The 27-year old Aaron Daniel Motta was arrested by police in Pinellas Park, Florida, for reportedly stealing an elderly client’s Trezor hardware wallet and its password while providing security assistance.

Clearwater Police revealed that Motta transferred the stolen cryptocurrency into various wallets that he controlled. The victim’s identity has not been disclosed, and further information about the incident is still under wraps.
Charges and Background
Motta, who describes himself as a “certified ethical hacker,” has been charged with grand theft and other computer-related offenses. He operates his own business called Motta Management & Mitigation Services and is also involved in Apple’s bug bounty program.
On social media platforms, Motta is listed as an IT manager, former cybersecurity engineer, and ethical hacker. His LinkedIn profile highlights his expertise in cybersecurity, penetration testing, offensive security, and IT.
Legal Proceedings
Despite attempts to reach out to Motta for comments, he did not respond to inquiries from the media. Following his arrest on April 8, he was taken to Pinellas County Jail and later released after posting a $60,000 bail.
