Crypto gaming infrastructure firm Sequence is undergoing a rebranding process, with the decision to shut down its Horizon Blockchain Games brand.
As part of this rebranding, all existing resources and products previously under the Horizon Blockchain Games umbrella, including the popular game Skyweaver, will now be consolidated under the Sequence brand. This strategic move aims to streamline operations and reinforce Sequence’s mission to unify blockchain ecosystems within the Web3 space.
CEO of Sequence, Peter Kieltyka, emphasized the importance of clarity in this transition, stating, “This name change is a commitment to clarity — and our mission to unify blockchain ecosystems and empower builders across Web3.”
Furthermore, the restructuring marks Sequence’s shift away from game development towards a stronger focus on building crypto infrastructure to support the evolving needs of the industry.
Despite the closure of Horizon Blockchain Games, Skyweaver will continue to be available for its dedicated community. Michael Sanders, cofounder and Chief Storyteller at Sequence, highlighted the valuable insights gained from Skyweaver’s development process in understanding the requirements of a developer platform.
Notably, Horizon Blockchain Games had secured a $40 million Series A funding round in 2022, in addition to raising $13.3 million through previous seed funding rounds.
In a strategic move to enhance its technical capabilities, Sequence has also announced the acquisition of Light, a crypto tech firm specializing in addressing the Ethereum “chain abstraction” challenge. This acquisition aims to simplify the multichain experience for users navigating various Ethereum L2, L3, and sidechain ecosystems.
Shun Kakinoki, founder of Light, now serves as Sequence’s head of cross-chain operations post-acquisition, leading efforts to streamline user experiences in the Web3 space.
As a leading provider of infrastructure for the crypto gaming sector, Sequence offers white-label services to major industry players, enabling seamless integration of their solutions under the client’s branding.
