AI Firm Sentient Labs Set to Launch Open Deep Search Framework
AI firm Sentient Labs, co-founded by Sandeep Nailwal and backed by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund, is gearing up to launch Open Deep Search (ODS), a cutting-edge framework designed to compete with closed-source AI search products like Perplexity.
ODS is poised to enhance the capabilities of Sentient Chat, with co-founder Himanshu Tyagi stating that the goal is to integrate various agents that are leveraging their models into the platform.
While currently limited to select testers, a full public release of ODS is anticipated in the coming months. Sentient Chat serves as the platform where users can access the models and applications built on model collecting.
The team behind Sentient designed ODS to be community-owned, allowing for modifications and enabling developers to create domain-specific plug-ins, private search agents, and alternative reward mechanisms.
Sentient is dedicated to developing “loyal” AI models, with their flagship model Dobby showcasing higher accuracy compared to industry benchmarks like Perplexity’s Sonar Reasoning Pro and GPT-4o Search Preview.
Emphasizing decentralization, Tyagi expressed his optimism about the convergence of AI and crypto, stating that open-sourcing a framework that surpasses industry leaders like Perplexity empowers developers to unleash their creativity.
Decentralization plays a crucial role, as it addresses the limitations of centralized entities in terms of data access. Tyagi highlighted the importance of decentralizing data sources to solve this issue.
While some may draw comparisons between Sentient and Perplexity, Tyagi emphasized that Sentient doesn’t have a direct competitor but is focused on advancing its models. Currently, there is a waitlist of nearly two million for Sentient Chat, with approximately 700,000 users utilizing the loyal AI model Dobby.
