Ripple Partners with Ctrl Alt to Digitize Property Ownership in Dubai
Ripple has recently announced a new partnership with Ctrl Alt to support the Dubai Land Department’s (DLD) initiative to digitize property ownership using blockchain technology. This collaboration will see Ripple’s institutional-grade custody technology being utilized to securely store title deeds on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) as part of the DLD’s real estate tokenization project.
This groundbreaking partnership marks the first time a government body in the Middle East has issued real estate deeds on a public blockchain. Ripple’s role in this initiative is to provide secure and scalable custody infrastructure, while Ctrl Alt will offer local execution and support. The news of this partnership has had a positive impact on the XRP token, with its value increasing by nearly 4% and trading close to the $3 mark at the time of writing.
Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “The Dubai Land Department’s Real Estate Tokenization Project is a perfect example of the type of forward-thinking, innovative initiative that is positioning Dubai at the heart of the global digital asset industry.”
The project has already entered the pilot phase in collaboration with Ripple, Ctrl Alt, and Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority. This initiative is part of a larger effort to digitize city services and expand blockchain use cases in various sectors such as real estate, finance, and public services.
This partnership further solidifies Ripple’s growing presence in the UAE, following its accreditation as the first blockchain payments provider licensed by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) earlier this year. Ripple has also established partnerships with Zand Bank and Mamo to strengthen its foothold in the region. Additionally, the DFSA recently approved Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin for use within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Overall, Ripple’s collaboration with Ctrl Alt to digitize property ownership in Dubai underscores the company’s commitment to driving innovation and digital transformation in the Middle East region. With blockchain technology playing a pivotal role in revolutionizing traditional processes, this partnership sets a new standard for secure and transparent property transactions in the real estate sector.
