Status Network Launches First Gasless Layer 2 Network
Status (SNT), a pioneer in decentralized communication platforms since 2017, has recently unveiled the first natively gasless Layer 2 network on testnet. This innovative network, built on Consensys’ Linea zkEVM rollup, eliminates transaction fees and introduces a unique community-focused yield allocation system.
Gasless Transactions and Yield Allocation
Unlike traditional networks that rely on gas fees for transactions, Status has taken a different approach. By converting bridged ETH and stablecoins into yield-bearing assets like stETH and sDAI, the network is able to generate yield that benefits both builders and liquidity providers. This model aims to attract users and deposits, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem where increased activity leads to higher yields. Pending governance approval, a portion of this yield may also be used for SNT token buy-backs and burns.
Use Cases and Applications
The Status Network is designed to cater to a wide range of use cases, including gaming, social apps, and DeFi. Early applications on the network include a mobile RPG, an onchain gacha game, and a metaverse casino, with plans for additional DeFi tools in the pipeline.
Development Roadmap
The testnet v1 is now live, offering fully gasless transactions for users to experience. A second testnet version, featuring spam protection and yield routing, is scheduled for release in October 2025. The mainnet launch is anticipated for Q1 2026, marking a significant milestone for the Status Network.
